Lakeshore Living

The Very Best of

Amenities

Jackfish Lake provides a wonderful setting for boating and all water sports, and excellent fishing, with a diverse population including perch, walleye, pike, burbot and whitefish. The lake hosts an annual ice fishing derby in February.

The area around the lake features numerous hiking and cycling trails, with ample bird- and wildlife-watching opportunities, especially at the nearby Murray Lake Bird Sanctuary.

Jackfish Lodge offers world-class golfing, or you can play a quick round “right in your backyard” at the Meota Lakeside Golf Club adjacent to the village.

Located 32 kilometres south, North Battleford provides all the shopping, dining, leisure and cultural amenities of a city, yet maintains a “small-town” feel.

About Meota

You can expect a warm welcome from the pleasant and historic village of Meota. You’ll enjoy a relaxed and peaceful pace of life along the southern shores of Jackfish Lake, and discover a real sense of community among the approximately 300 people who call Meota home.

A grocery store, Innovation Credit Union, Hotel Steak Pit and Café, SGI, Lakeland Library, Meota Hair Center and Laundromat, and a Fitness Centre are just some of the services available. The village is also home to the Battlefords Sailing Club, Meota & District Lakeside Golf Course, and Meota Regional Park.

The Meota Regional Park is located within the village limits, has 14 full service campsites, 78 electrical sites, and 9 non-electrical sites. It has a swimming area on Jackfish Lake, a cook house, and fish filleting facility, and is a great place to meet family and friends.

The village’s name is derived from a Cree phrase meaning “it is good here.” Once you’ve experienced lakeshore living in Meota for yourself, you’re sure to agree.
